The internet is arguably the most revolutionary invention of the 20th century. It has connected computers all around the world to each other. It allows businesses and other organizations to have constant access to information, even from home. Now it seems that everyone can make use of it in a variety of ways. As the internet grew, so did everyone’s potential. With the constant sharing of information, there seems to be nothing that one cannot learn from the internet. It can be used to learn how to cook, fix a car, and even pick up some parenting tips. The internet has also connected us on a somewhat personal level now, for better or for worse.
Thanks to the advancement of the internet and phone technology, people can always keep aware of the world around them. Information is always at the tip of their finger, whether they want to know what is going on in a loved one’s life, or what is going on with a local celebrity. There are plenty of positives with this kind of technology; now it’s easier to keep in contact with distant contacts, even if all it amounts to is a “hello” and a "like", some would argue that it’s better than nothing. There are, of course, times where being so connected may not be such a good thing. Privacy has practically become a luxury in the new information age. Anything about a person’s life can slip out and become a part of the information super highway. For example, someone who frequents social sites such as Facebook may one day find themselves posting something they wish that had not. Or if one were to have a romantic relationship go very sour, nothing is stopping him/her from lashing out and leaking very sensitive information out on Facebook for all to see. People used to say that it’s called the web because once something gets on it; it’s stuck there for good. It’s very difficult, if not impossible to completely scrub the world clean of digital...
