I believe some notable figures in history should be celebrated for their achievements. For example, Franklin D. Roosevelt should be rewarded for signing the Fair Standards Labor Act due to child labor. He should be rewarded, because children at early ages had to work in factories. Most factories preferred children, because their hands were smaller and they could fit into some places easily. It was very unsanitary and unsafe for children to work in factories. Working in the factories kept the children from attending school and getting their education. It seemed like the factory owner’s took advantage of the little kids. They paid the children little to no money and they knew the children were less likely to strike.
Working in the factories was very harsh; the working conditions were responsible for bad injuries and even death. It was unsafe and unsanitary for the little children to work in this environment. The children had little to no experience with the machinery; they also had to work with very sharp objects and tools. The children were exposed to nasty pesticides, unsanitary conditions, and they lacked clean drinking water.
Working in the factory at an early age kept the children from attending school. Instead of working long hard hours in factories, the children should have been getting their education. Very few of the children who worked in these sweat factories attended school past the lower elementary grades. Some of the children who did attend school and work often dropped out due to the long hours in the factory. In my opinion, education is way more important than working at an early age. You’re supposed to get your education first, and then work so you can become successful in life. Your education should come before everything, and the factory owners robbed the little children education.
