Ten years ago my cousin was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a specific and very aggressive type of brain cancer. His family didn't have health very good health insurance and he was often not able to receive the best treatments and medications in order to help slow the cancer down and alleviate his pain. A he got into his late teen years his tumor had become very aggressive and his time on this earth was limited. HE was bed ridden and the pain had gotten so bad that the street purchased medicine and marijuana that i had gotten him were no longer helping him cope. On day he sat down and pleaded with me to help him end his pain and his family’s suffering with dealing with this awful disease. I eventually gave in and did research on untraceable chemical poisons. I made him a drink and he went to sleep and never woke up. I never told anyone until last night when i told my friend “S” and this is how the conversation went.
Brian: Years ago my cousin whom i spent most of my childhood with became ill and asked me to help him commit suicide. I helped him bring closure to what had turned into hell on earth.
S: You do realize that in these United States the act of murder especially that of premeditation is punishable by life in prison and in some states death. The law shall not be bent for you or any other person who deems it fit to take another mans life. Regard less if that man has asked you to help him end his suffering
Brian: But is it fair that we live in the worlds most powerful country in the world and they cannot supply a sick and dying boy with the proper treatment if his family doesn't have the best health insurance. Who are the leaders of “these united states” to decide who lives and who dies? It seems to me we life in a state of hypocrisy.
S: We elect the officials who write the laws and we live in the land these officials help rule, so we as citizens have a responsibility to obey the laws these...
