Every coach of a sports team has a philosophy on how they manage their team. As an aspiring coach I look to remember the way I carried myself about the game as a former player. To know the cognitive, associative and autonomous learning techniques along with auditory, sight and kinesthetic teaching techniques. I will have a cooperative coaching philosophy where I ask for input from my coaching staff, make sure its in best interest for my players, and how much it can help my team. As we’ve talked about before in our class, compliance motivation such as extrinsic awards players will be competitive enough to work hard to achieve these awards. My coaching style will be all about making sure my players still find the game fun, want to work hard to be the best, and fight until the final out.
It takes honest assessment to admit to having weaknesses but we all have them. We just do not want them to interfere with good coaching judgment. By focusing on my strengths I will be able to identify consistent ways to coach that utilize those strengths. If I am a good teacher, or motivator, or academic, or communicator or a former athlete? As a coach am I dynamic, or easy going, or hard nosed or open and friendly? I will make sure that I use my strengths to my advantage. By taking time to make a serious assessment of my strengths and weaknesses and recognizing my morals, values and beliefs I am better able to adapt to my own style to the athletes being coached. In addition, as a coach I will answer the important questions on why am I the coach, how do I actually deliver as a coach and what objectives are we trying to accomplish. One other point to consider is, how do players and fellow coaches perceive me?
I will abide by all rules through the NCAA and make sure my players do as well. As do the student athletes at most institutions my players and coaches will attend the NCAA rules and regulations meeting to make sure everyone is aware of what is expected of them and what...
