Movie Analysis Paper
Crash is a 2005 American drama film. It’s written and directed by Paul Haggis; the movie is about racial and social tensions in Los Angeles. The racists exit all communities: Black, White, Asian, Hispanic and the people’s different colors. They just think that they are good and the others are bad, that becomes their behavior. The movie shows us the attitude of each character, how they treat the other. At the end of the movie, it tells us that people can learn and change their behavior by the impact of the community and society.
Anthony is an Africa American who lives by stealing cars for the chop shop owner. He believes that society is unfairly biased against blacks. He thinks that all of the white people never like black people; they don’t want to be with black people in the community. He doesn’t like any thing from white people. He hates white people. In the movie at one point he claims that he would never hurt the other black person. Using social learning theory helps us to understand why Anthony thinks that way. He saw people around him always treat the black person in a really bad way; he always pays attention when he saw the white person look at him or another black person. For example: when he saw the attorney and his wife walk on the street. She walked closer to her husband and held her husband’s hand. At the time Anthony saw that happen; he thought the attorney’s wife was scared of him and his friend because she tried to walk closer to her husband. He just said she was scared of black people but he didn’t think anything else beside that. He always thinks about black and white people. It reminds him that he hates white people. From the third of the model theory he must have a mental representation of the behavior stored in his memory that can be retrieved and used to reproduce the behavior.
