ENG 125- Introduction to Literature
October 10, 2011
The two literary themes that were chosen were “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost and “Use to Live Here Once” by Jean Rhys. The two are the same in many ways but yet different in others. The way these people come upon two different paths of life and how they surrender themselves to the feelings that are stirred within them.
Daydreaming about the past and the future of laughter and loneliness and seeing how reality creeps in.
Two people see different things when looking at the future one sees a road that is traveled barren and the other that is overgrown with grass and weeds. The other sees a past of what was wonderful memories and thinks of the happiness that was there once. Noticing the changes that the land had made since she last was there, and how much difference but yet not enough to make a person wonder about what was happening.
One person sees the roads that need and want to be walked upon but yet there is only one that is over grown and never walked on. This person says to himself that he will take the road not walked on the next time he came that way but in his mind he felt he never would venture to the road not taken ever again.
These two people want so much to make a difference in what laid ahead for them but the ability to this was hard because they had to make the decision on what to do then and now. Time was passing by and the conquest was at hand.
“The Road Not Taken” was a road that was left for desertion and no one would ever use it maybe every once in a while...
