My Son the Fanatic Essay
Nowadays religion is very important to some people. And though, some people don't really care about their religion. But a lot of those people, who really live by the religious rules, can easily change people’s view of them. Some will even die for their religion. That is the matter of fact in this short-story.
The father is named Parvez and is a born Punjabi, but now he is a taxi-driver in England. He had worked his whole life to pay for Ali’s education. He wants to integrate and be a part of the English society without hurting other people. He has a son who is named Ali. Parvez wants Ali to get a good job, marry the right girl and start a family. But some conflicts between Parvez and Ali starts and Parvez begins to drink alcohol, which is against the Koran. He is starting to talk to a prostitute also, which is much forbidden to the Koran. I was not really a problem that he was seeing prostitutes, and drinking alcohol until his son found out. Ali is a Muslim and lives for his religion. He is praying every day. He thinks his father is letting his religion down and that he is way too implicated in the British culture, and he thinks that Parvez had broken countless rules of the Koran. He thinks that the father. Ali thinks that England is filled with hypocrites, adulterers, homosexuals, drug-dealers and prostitutes. Ali will drop his education to work in prisons and such, just to help oppressed Muslims. Ali hates England that England is that bad to immigrants that he wants to make Jihad if the persecution doesn’t stop. He and millions of other will gladly give their lives for the cause. Ali also thinks that he will be rewarded in Paradise if he dies for his religion. This difference in-between Parvez and Ali creates conflicts and makes their relationship very tense because Ali thinks that Parvez had become “one of them”.
