Throughout the world, there are many different controversy’s that come in every different form. One of the main one’s existing today, is the topic of euthanasia. This thing, euthanasia, that causes all this controversy, can be described as the “intentional killing by act or omission of a dependent human being for his or her alleged benefit (” This physician assisted suicide aroused many responses from people, either being for or against it. It is believed that euthanasia is unlawful, and that it is against someone’s religion to do so. Euthanasia is used though, to help the pain of people who it is unbearable, or to the people who will remain in the vegetation state. Overall, euthanasia should be something that should be an option for anyone, not something people cannot get access to when they are looking for it.
When born, we live our life aiming for dignity. We strive to dignify ourselves through making important decisions all the time. Living in a democratic society, we have the right not only to live with dignity, but also to die with dignity. Since death is an unavoidable situation, you as a person living in a free country should have the right to die however you please. When people become terminally ill and they are slowly dying, they are slowly losing their self respect. This self respect should be able to be maintained through the use of euthanasia.
When dealing with euthanasia, there is the idea of individual liberty, when the person is still fit to make the decision themselves. This should be the person’s choice, especially when they are still fit for the decision. “They have the right to make a rational, competent decision for themselves (” If a person is in unbearable and chronic pain, they should have the right to make the pain stop. Euthanasia is a good, peaceful way to ease people out of the situation of chronic pain.
