The Onset of Homeless
How and why people first find themselves on the streets?
Description and Relevance: On the rise are the people that are finding themselves out on the street. Being the richest nation in the world, the United States has an over abundance of people who end up on the street due to a rough streak in their lives. The cause can be from anywhere from being evicted from their homes, losing their jobs, divorce and/or abandonment and/or foreclosures. All this leads to the end result of no where to go. Is the direct cause due to evictions, divorces or abandonment or potentially home foreclosures? This will exclude the mentally ill people that find themselves out on the streets.
Method and Organization: I plan on researching the data as to what is causing people to find themselves out on the street and is there ways that we can be proactive in the prevention of this. What is available currently and ideas that may be working in other states that we can introduce here.
Contestable Elements: With the decline of the housing market, the unemployment continuously on the rise, more and more people are ending up on the streets. Who are they and why? Are there things that can be done to prevent this from happening before its too late.
Timetable: My timeline is to have a rough draft completed during spring break and submitting it for revisions and editing shortly thereafter. I will be focusing on gathering my data and information to be able to focus on the rough draft.
Preliminary Bibliography: My sources will be from the Internet, but not limited to this. I will also be seeking out journals related to the topic along with calling organizations such as Catholic Charities and the Red Cross.
Questions: Some of the questions that I want to uncover is what is the cause that these people are finding themselves out on the streets. Could it of been prevented? Is there areas where there is less...
