The Last Day in Kunming
“When are you leaving?”
“See you at the old place tonight.”
After I hung up the phone, I was looking at the baggage, which was before my eyes, with a melancholy mood.
I sighed, and then got my keys and money and went out.
The sun was shinning, with many hours left until nightfall, I had nothing to do.
I was riding on the electric bicycle, and looking at the gloomy distance, thinking:
“Is my decision really correct? I’m going to lose a lot of things tomorrow, my parents, my relatives, my friends…all the thing which I cherish.”
I was loitering alone in the crowded, beautiful, and memorable city, and tried my best to recollect all my happiest memories.
I was lost in the moment, in front of my eyes, my friends, parents, everything, faintly appeared.
But they gradually blurred.
I used my hand to rub my eyes; kept loitering.
The night was coming, I started riding to the place where I arranged to meet with my friends; they wanted to give me a goodbye party.
When I arrived there, about 20 electric bicycles had already been parked out front.
I saw more than 30 familiar faces when I entered, I started smiling. I was so happy and excited, I couldn’t help shouting:
“Nobody’s leaving unless you’re drunk!”
I looked very happy, but that was not true.
On the outside I was enjoying to talk with my friends, and smiling; only I could feel the loneliness inside.
All the things I cherish were there, so near, but still so far away.
However, that was my last night there, if I didn’t treasure them at that time, it would be too late.
We had fun until 5 o’clock in the morning, my flight was at 12pm at the next day; I had to go home, although I really didn’t want to.
A group of my drunken friends were singing on the way to my house.
Time always passes so quickly when you really need it.
Finally, we arrived at the ground floor of my house.
