Activity one Pilot assessment
My local business is Flexibility Gym. It is located in Bedford town centre, the main reason for this being is that the owners and managers are all local to the area and are only a few minutes away from the business. I chose this business for many reasons; this is where I went on work experience as I’m interested in sport and going there would also help me in my other subject of PE Exam, I also chose this business as it is my uncle who owns it and my cousin is the manager so I have easy access to certain information which will help me on this assessment.
My national business is Thorpe Park. It is located in Chertsey, Surrey just 20 miles from Central London, the reasons it is placed here is so that it is near the capital city but in an open area space where it is the only amusement around, this helps it to attract tourists from all over the world. I chose this business because their website was detailed and I could attain all the information I needed from their sources that they provided.
The way I conducted my research was simple, around about 8 hours of research searching the internet and extracting the relevant pieces of information I needed, these were then set out in organised folders so I could easily know what was in each folder for quick access just by reading the folder name. Researching for my local business was harder because their website isn’t as detailed and I couldn’t find the relevant information, so therefore I had to find out all I could when I was on work experience and try and remember what I had learnt, this wasn’t as successful.
A business aim is a goal a business wants to achieve. An aim is something to do with the general direction of the business. E.g. "…to offer world class customer service at all times."
