Patriotism in America
In many countries across the globe freedom is no more than a dream. To some this isn’t even a realization, and to many this would become crystal clear. In America many believed they were invincible to terror on our home front. In complete comfort the citizens lived their lives without wondering about a terrorist attack, others didn’t even think it was possible. But on September 11th, 2001 something changed forever. Historically patriotism would be at an all-time high in direct effect to the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil. American citizens would be on guard, never knowing what to next expect, questioning their security in the most desired county on earth. “How could this happen in America?” many would ask, others just said “Why?” Although the 9/11 attack was painstaking and devastating, it has brought together people from all walks of life, expanding social networks, and reuniting a strong nation.
The years before September 11th, 2001 were different. Technology was advancing at a high rate, internet was new and people were not unified. America is built on the ability to prosper and determination. Strong believers in “If you want it, you can have it” come to this nation in hopes of this. Nowhere else in the world do you get in return what you put in, and foreigners envy this. The citizens already here were not going to lose these privileges without putting up a fight. Fueled by hate for a group of terrorist’s trying to take away our freedoms, America initiated war upon Iraq, Afghanistan and had also invaded parts of Pakistan. This is a country that wasn’t going to just sit down and be walked on. Retaliation was imminent, someone was responsible and they would pay for their actions. It was the belief from New York to California, Michigan to Louisiana. Patriotism was everywhere and if you didn’t agree you would be considered an extremist.
