The purpose of this paper is to discuss and explain the second part of the documentation needed by the bank to approve a loan to open a gourmet coffee shop in Washington, D.C. In this second part of the paper, I will review the recruitment strategy formulated for this new coffee shop for both initial hiring and throughout the next three years. Creating a communication message to attract applicants and selecting the right communication method is a very important aspect for hiring. After that has been discussed, we will review the selection process to be used for staffing and both the advantages and disadvantages along with the assessment methods used to select candidates. Lastly, I will identify the predictors which will be used to assess knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics, otherwise referred to as KSAOs.
One of the most important things to do before opening a new business is to formulate a recruiting plan and strategy to be used for the next three years after opening. When devising a recruitment plan, two issues need to be addressed: organizational plans and administrative issues. Since this is a brand new store, the focus will be on external recruitment and I would use an external recruitment agency to help me fill all of these openings. I have chosen to go with an agency versus recruiting in-house because I do not have the manpower to fill all of these openings now, nor would I have the time to run a business and focus on recruiting as turnover occurs.
