3.1 Explain relevant policies and procedures for the support of individuals who have used substances:

Explain the risks to individuals from the substances taken and the methods used, offer individuals guidance, support and advice on ways in which methods of substance use and activities can be affected .
3.2 Support individuals in a manner appropiate to the substances used, the effect which the substance has had and the condition of the individual:
Alcohol : Alcohol misuse is a level of drinking alcohol which affects an individual’s work or behaviour, try and find out why they drink? talk to the individual and try to tell them of the health hazards.
*Smoking / Drugs : About 30,000 people in the UK die from lung cancer each year. More than 8 in 10 cases are directly related to smoking. Try to explain the consequences of smoking and what other problems it would cause throughout the body, but this is advertised on cigarette packets, but dosent seem to deter the smoker, inform them on the other ways to help them to stop like gums, patches and E - cigarettes.
Medication Abuse : This can cause appitite suppresion and can lead to drastic weight loss, paranoyer, depression etc, try to find out why they started taking the medication it could of been down to a illness and they feel like they do help but are not really for long term use, so look into back ground and see when medication began.
3.3 Demonstrate how to make the enviroment as safe as possible, including how and when to move individuals for their own safety:
Always make sure there are know hazards that the individual could fall, hit or trip over, if there is a time when a individual needs to be moved make sure it is safe to do so.
3.4 Support the individuals to meet their own needs and requirements after the effects of the substance has worn off:
