History
The United States Postal Service (USPS) is a very important federal service which has roots as old as the United States of America. On July 26, 1775, the Second Continental Congress created the United States Post Office (USPO) in Philadelphia under Benjamin Franklin. Franklin, who became the first Postmaster General, was responsible for all post offices from Massachusetts to Georgia and had the authority to hire postmasters as necessary. Along with Franklin, other American idols were postmasters, including Abraham Lincoln and Harry Truman. Until 1971, Postmaster Generals were even the last people in the United States...
