Virtual Reality is a computer system that provides the user of the system with an

interactive visual experience that is similar to reality. The use of the system is

versatile. While the computers in ones home provides a simple form of virtual

reality through software’s that can be installed on to the computer, gaming systems

such as the play station too are capable of a limited real life like experience while

playing games. Large Universities and Corporations use an advanced form of virtual

reality systems on super computers to provide an interactive educational

experience to the members of their respective institutions. Similarly, virtual reality

is used by the military, air industry, and companies such as Amoco to carry out high

risk training programs. The significance of virtual reality is the three-dimensional

(3D) images that are created in order to provide its user the maximum visual

experience that cannot be obtained elsewhere other than in the real world.

Furthermore, virtual reality creates interaction between the computer and the

human body by sensing human activity and providing interactive feedback. As

discussed previously virtual reality systems provide 3D images opposed to

two-dimensional (2D) images, which are important terminology that need to be

understood. While 2D images depict a single surface area of an object, 3D images on

the other hand can display multiple surfaces of an object. By using the concept of 3D

imaging, 3D glasses were introduced as the earliest form of virtual reality and was

followed by the invention of shutter glasses in the 1980s. Virtual reality systems

came into use towards the latter part of the 1900s. While a system known as the

HMD is still used at present with alterations made to it. Another system known as
