Below is an essay on "Why I Write" from Anti Essays, your source for research papers, essays, and term paper examples.
There are many different reasons why authors write; to share an idea, get a point across, debate something, convince people, or just simply to make up a good story. The reason I write is because I want to share something with everyone else. Be it something about my life or something new to teach, that’s what causes me to write.
My favorite thing to write is an essay educating others about something new. I like to write these types of papers because not only am I teaching other people about something that is commonly forgotten or looked over, I am also teaching myself. To know if the paper is up to my standards, I always need to do research to write a good essay on a topic so that way I’m also learning. An example of one of these papers is an essay on the life of Thomas Alva Edison. As we all know, he was an inventor and businessman. People know him most for inventing the so commonly used light bulb. What most people do not know is that he also invented many other things such as the phonograph (record player) and kinetoscope (video camera). This is what I want to write about. Not the already known facts but the ones that are commonly looked over.
In conclusion, the reason I write is not to write a story, it is not to debate something, or convince a person to do something; it is because I like to write essays on new things. Since I like to learn new, interesting things, I usually chose a topic that I don’t know much about.
