The Allies of World War II were the countries that opposed the Axis powers during the Second World War (1939–1945). The anti-German coalition at the start of the war was France, Poland and the United Kingdom, soon to join was Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Newfoundland and South Africa. After 1941, the leaders of the British Commonwealth, the Soviet Union, and the United States of America known as the "Big Three", held leadership of the allied powers. China,at that time, was also a major Ally. Other Allies included Belgium, Brazil, Czechoslovakia, Greece, India Mexico, the Netherlands and Norway.[6]
They were fighting against the axis forces whose main forces were Germany led by hitler Italy led by Mussolini and japan led by Hirohito
The swastika used to be a Muslim symbol that meant good look and happiness but then Hitler turned it to the symbol of the Nazis He started the war by invading poland and he led the german army through the war untill he eventually killed himself
The full word is blitzkrieg which means lightning strike the blitz was were the german bombers flew over england and bombed the main cities and bays it created lots of havoc and destruction in england Air raid sirens first sounded the warning in London in September 1939.They became an almost daily part of life in the capital a year later during the height of the Blitz.When people heard the siren they would stop what they were doing and make for a shelter.
Anderson shelters WERE constructed from corrugated iron which were built in gardens, or Morrison shelters which were constructed indoors.in London many people crowded into tube stations and spent the raid underground. Often daily life would continue within the larger shelters - for example, children continuing their lessons inside their school shelter.
